Is Teaching your Children About Sex a Good Thing?
November 8, 2018
For this post, I don't really know how to talk about it because it is kind of a touchy subject buuuut I found it very interesting in our class discussions so I would like to share a few things I learned with you guys!! :)
In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we believe that sex is a very sacred thing. It should be addressed with the child and their parents. It has to do with more than what the world thinks of it; pleasure and loving someone. It truly is a power and gift given from our Heavenly Father. We should educate the future generations more about this than what society portrays it to be.
One of the biggest issues about this topic in our day is that the schools we often attend have a Sex Education program. But do parents want their kids to learn from teachers or themselves? Each parent is different I suppose. That is why I am going to share with you guys a link that has to do with the way parents can educate their kids about sex. By clicking on this link below, you can find out that it is okay to start teaching children at a young age. It gives ideas in how to do it and advice for parents. I found it rather interesting and I hope you all would like to give it a try!---> (A Parents Guide)
SEX EDUCATION IN SCHOOL
Lets talk about schools and what they do to try to teach students about this subject. Well, we all understand that sex is something we need to learn about. Schools are required to touch on this that way kids will be able to know what the dangers are such as: sexually transmitted diseases, etc. But what happens if children think they can only talk about this in school? This can be dangerous. That is why I think parents should take the responsiblity of teaching their kids and helping them be open about talking about this subject. Another point to touch on is that this can cause a problem in the family and the child's relationship with the parents. It is crucial that parents form a close bond with things like (talking about puberty, body changes, and sex) that way the child will feel closer and someone they can talk to without feeling embarrassed. WE ALL went through that awkward stage as teenagers. But I was honestly really blessed and my parents tried to form this bond with me so that I became more educated in this subject. And I am so grateful for that! PARENTS, I highly encourage you to be comfortable talking about this topic with your spouse and children. It will help the whole family become closer.
In closing for my post this week, I understand that it is very important as parents that WE take control and help our children understand this topic. In my future home I want to implement the way that the Lord would have me do. I know that this is all part of His plan! :)
Thanks guys til next time.

I also believe that our society should teach more about HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS and the HOW TO'S for having them. We spend so much time talking about abstinence in high school that we don't ever touch on the good parts about relationships and how to maintain them. I didn't start getting a hold of that until I got off my mission and went to this class actually. I find that so interesting. I was reading another article on this topic that I will post down below for you guys to check out as well. But in this article it talks about this a little bit more. If you want to find out how we should educate teens about this topic CHECK IT OUT---> (Article)
