Week 8 Blog Post

Foundational Processes for an Enduring, Healthy Marriage

Chapter 3

I loved reading this week's chapter about the foundational processes for an ongoing, growing marriage. It is truly a blessing we have on this Earth to be here and learn how to manage a good marriage. It gives me clarity that I know our Heavenly Father wants us to know how to do this before we leave this Earth and become like Him with our significant other.

Now I wanted to give you a basic summary of what this chapter has to offer for you in your marriage or even your future marriage. If all you remember after reading this blog post is how to keep that foundation strong then that's perfect!! I know you will be able to!

Nurturing love and friendship is such a basic thing in a marriage that needs all the attention that it can have! It is very important to take the time to make sure your spouse is your best friend. Help that relationship by doing things to grow and nurture it. Relationships don't just have the same intimacy once you've sealed the deal. It doesn't work like that. Plan some time to increase your intimacy as a couple by going on dates each week and spending time together just talking and laughing. It is SO important!!

One last quote before I finish today's blog post. This is found in Chapter 3 of the book that I have been studying this semester. The book is titled "Successful Marriage and Families: Proclamations Principles and Research Perspectives". Here is the quote that I want you to remember after reading this blog post for today!

"If you want something to last forever, you treat it differently. You shield it and protect it. You never abuse it. You don’t expose it to the elements. You don’t make it common or ordinary. If it ever becomes tarnished, you lovingly polish it until it gleams like new. It becomes special because you have made it so, and it grows more beautiful and precious as time goes by. Eternal marriage is just like that. We need to treat it just that way."
