“Let’s talk about temples.” Russell M. Nelson, “Go Forward in Faith”, April 2020 General Conference

“This is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He stands at its head and directs all that we do. I know that He will respond to the pleadings of His people.” Russell M. Nelson, “Opening the Heavens For Help”, April 2020 General Conference

“The Church exists to provide the doctrine, the authority, and the ordinances necessary to perpetuate family relationships into the eternities.” Dallin H. Oaks, “Melchizedek Priesthood and Keys” April 2020 General Conference

"Individual progression is fostered in the family, which is “central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children.”9 The home is to be God’s laboratory of love and service. There a husband is to love his wife, a wife is to love her husband, and parents and children are to love one another." President Russell M. Nelson, "Salvation and Exaltation" April 2008 General Conference

“Though women do not hold an office in the priesthood, they perform sacred temple ordinances under the authorization of the president of the temple, who holds the keys for the ordinances of the temple." Dallin H. Oaks, “Keys and Authority of the Priesthood”, April 2014 General Conference

"We do not build or enter holy temples solely to have a memorable individual or family experience. Rather, the covenants received, and the ordinances performed in temples are essential to the sanctifying of our hearts and for the ultimate exaltation of God's sons and daughters.” David A. Bednar, “Let This House Be Built Upon My Name”, April 2020 General Conference

“The commandment to honor our parents has strands that run through the entire fabric of the gospel. It is inherent in our relationship to God our Father. It embraces the divine destiny of the children of God.” Dallin H. Oaks, “Honor Thy Father and Thy Mother”, October 1999 General Conference

"Throughout the world, the family is increasingly under attack. If families fail, many of our political, economic, and social systems will also fail. And if families fail, their glorious eternal potential cannot be realized. Our Heavenly Father wants husbands and wives to be faithful to each other and to esteem and treat their children as a heritage from the Lord.10 In such a family we study the scriptures and pray together. And we fix our focus on the temple. There we receive the highest blessings that God has in store for His faithful children." President Russell M. Nelson,"Salvation and Exaltation" April 2008 General Conference

"Children and youth are shown, through prophetic words and through living examples, the importance of loving and honoring their parents. Parents are taught ways of building and maintaining close family ties, both in good times and in difficult times." Elder L. Tom Perry, "The Importance of the Family" April 2003 General Conference

“President Brigham Young explained that our families are not yet ours. The Lord has committed them to us to see how we will treat them. Only if we are faithful will they be given to us forever. What we do on earth determines whether or not we will be worthy to become heavenly parents.” Elder L. Tom Perry, "The Importance of the Family", April 2003 General Conference

Position Statement

Learning about the family through each of these quotes is incredible. Family is such an important part of our lives. I know that some families have struggles that they go through, but it is such a comfort knowing that families can be eternal. I love my family very much and I know that our Heavenly Father has that same love for His children. I have a testimony of families and the gospel. I know that when the gospel teachings are practiced in the home, a family can be strong and the Spirit will be present. Without the Spirit the home tends to feel empty and the people that live there might seem to feel alone. That is why it is important to follow the counsel of each of these quotes and talks.
