Communication is KEY ill tell ya

November 20, 2018 Okay for this week's blog post, I just wanted to start out by saying that for having any healthy relationship, we need to realize that communication is key . I have seen the positives of having good communication and the negatives in relationships without as much communication. But why is communication so important? Well it allows us to express ourselves. Have you ever been with someone who just listens so well and you feel that you can express anything to them in that moment? That is a good sign of communication. The way we do anything is a form of communicating. But when it comes to our feelings sometimes this can become a sticky situation. I want to talk about how we can communicate to solve an issue within the family.  Today in our class discussion, we talked about the way we can communicate in order to solve a problem. I like solving problems. I am willing and open to discuss what is the problem and how we can go about discussing. There is nothing worse t...

The Family Under Stress

November 16, 2018 Is stress a good thing? Many people say that it can be. I believe that actually. The reason why is because it allows us to grow as individuals. It creates a feeling of discomfort which can help us learn to cope with that discomfort. In my post for this week, I want to talk about how the family goes under stress and how they can cope with it!!  FAMILY STRESSORS I have noticed that in my family many times we have gone through a lot of different things. We go through pain physically, emotionally, and mentally often. As a family goes under stress they can either be torn apart or be even closer together. The hope for when a family has a big event in their lives is that they will come out stronger! I know that when we go through hard things, we come out even better than before. WE  become better people! It all makes sense. I like to stick by the quote "Everything happens for a reason." I believe that to be true. Some examples of events that cause the family...

Is Teaching your Children About Sex a Good Thing?

November 8, 2018 For this post, I don't really know how to talk about it because it is kind of a touchy subject buuuut I found it very interesting in our class discussions so I would like to share a few things I learned with you guys!! :)  In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we believe that sex is a very sacred thing. It should be addressed with the child and their parents. It has to do with more than what the world thinks of it; pleasure and loving someone. It truly is a power and gift given from our Heavenly Father. We should educate the future generations more about this than what society portrays it to be.  One of the biggest issues about this topic in our day is that the schools we often attend have a Sex Education program. But do parents want their kids to learn from teachers or themselves? Each parent is different I suppose. That is why I am going to share with you guys a link that has to do with the way parents can educate their kids about sex. B...

Life After Marriage

Image
November 1, 2018 YAY. today is a good day I hope you all enjoy my post for the week* I am very excited to write a little bit more about this topic. Because ever since I was a little girl I grew up knowing that I wanted to get married to an amazing man. Now that I am in college I get to experiment with people and find out what it is that I like.  My parents showed me the way to love one another and that is something I dream for each day!My parents met while they were dating at BYU Provo. I am going to use their relationship for an example. They dated for about 9 months. They also met playing volleyball. From the start, they had a fast moving relationship full of just fun and activities. After doing lots of fun things together, they decided to get married. Throughout their marriage (especially after having kids) they had to make some adjustments. In my last blog post I wrote about dating before marriage. And this post I'm going to write about the adjustments made when two pe...

The Dating Life Before Marriage

October 27, 2018 Alright to start off for you all here's the dets:  I am a single 22 year old living in Rexburg right now. I can't tell you how many couples I see on campus everyday. Today actually I witnessed someone getting proposed to. It was really cute and everything but I grinned and kept walking. I thought to myself, "I wonder when that day will come".  While I was serving the Lord in Uruguay for 18 months and teaching about the plan that He has for families, I was able to teach it to newly married couples. My point is, I have been thinking about the thought of marriage for quite some time now. It is very common for people to come home off of their missions and get married really fast. Many people think that it's because of their mission presidents who tell them at the very end that they need to get married. But I can say that my mission president didnt urge me to get married right away. He said I need to "date around". I took that is get to kn...

Men & Women

Image
Hello!! I am excited to start this blog for today. This week in our class we discussed the differences between men and women. Which to me is very clear. I believe that men and women have a specific purpose and that God created us to work together. I also believe that many people in today's society are getting their view mixed up on this topic. As I type my thoughts, I'd appreciate all the positive comments everyone. If you disagree with me please keep the comments nice and respectful. I respect your opinons on this too so I hope you will do the same! THE DIFFERENCES Between men and women there are MANY differences. We look different, we act different, and we think different too. I have 2 younger brothers and the way I think compared to how they think is SO different. My brother who is 18 and I were are really close. For this reason, I know that men/boys are much different than women/girls. However in our world today, people seem to think that men and women are the sam...

Family Cultures and Traditions. Are They Different?

I am just going to answer the question right away for you all. YES they are different! The two words, culture and tradition mean two separate things. We recently dicussed the definition of culture in my class and I want to go into that a little bit more today. I didn't really understand the difference between the two. But now it makes so much more sense. I want to write a little bit more today. I didn't really understand the difference between the two. But now it makes so much more sense. I want to write about the different cultures we have in my family and the traditions we pass down from generation to generation. We are just going to define the two words culture and tradition. Culture (n) is defined by, "the arts of other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively. And the word tradition (n) is defined as: the transmission of customs or beliefs from generation to generation, or the face of being passed on by word or mouth. NOW,...
